Severe weather is expected to hit the Chicago area late Thursday afternoon and evening, with potential strong winds, hail, and an isolated tornado possible.

The showers and storms won't necessarily be widespread all day long, but bring steady rainfall and isolated storms throughout the day. The front will move out late on Saturday night, followed by some drier, cooler air behind it, bringing an end to the rain and storm chances. We will have clear skies to kick-off Sunday.
Going back to last week, we warned about the potential for severe weather moving into Houston Saturday night. While we said hail and even a tornado were possible, we emphasized that the primary threat would be damaging straight-line winds and that’s exactly what ended up impacting our area.
