A motorist who fatally struck a cyclist before fleeing the scene has been jailed today for 12 and a half years. He had spent the afternoon drinking in Sheerness before taking his mother’s car without permission. He then drove through Wormshill and surrounding areas before he collided with the victim, who was cycling near his home. Cousins who caused a fatal collision in Chatham have been jailed. The duo attended a family social function in Lordswood on Friday 26 November 2021 where they were seen to be drinking alcohol. At 12.23am the following morning, they left the venue in a Ford Transit van. After narrowly avoiding driving into a fence the driver pulled over and swapped seats with the passenger.
